The Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears Winter Recreational League is designed for players looking for a fun, low-commitment hockey experience during the winter season. This league is game-focused, with Saturday games only, making it a great option for families balancing other sports, activities, and schedules.

Our goal is to keep hockey fun while helping players continue to build confidence, improve through game play, and enjoy being part of the Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears community.

Players will participate in organized Saturday games in a fun, supportive environment. Teams will be balanced as best as possible to create competitive and enjoyable games each week.

This league is ideal for players who want to stay active, continue playing hockey, and enjoy the game without the added commitment of extra practices, travel, or tournaments.

Our goal is simple, keep players developing locally at a high level while giving families a smarter, more efficient hockey experience.



The Winter Development League is more than just a hockey program it is an opportunity to become part of the growing Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears hockey community and development pathway.

Through our partnership and relationship with the Knoxville Ice Bears organization, we continue working to create experiences and opportunities that connect young players directly to the game at a higher level.

Our goal is to build a complete local hockey culture where players feel connected, motivated, and inspired throughout the season!

✅ Requirements to Enter the Winter Recreational League

To ensure a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate experience for all participants, players must meet the following criteria:

• Skating Ability: Players must be able to skate independently (forward and stop without assistance)
• Full Hockey Equipment Required (helmet with cage, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, pants, shin guards, skates, stick, and game-appropriate jersey)
• USA Hockey Registration: All participants must have a current USA Hockey membership

USA Hockey Membership Requirement

All players participating in the Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears Winter Recreational League must have a current season membership with USA Hockey prior to taking the ice.

USA Hockey membership provides insurance coverage for players and is required for participation in all sanctioned youth hockey programs.

During registration, you will be prompted to enter your player's current USA Hockey membership number. If you do not have a current membership, please register with USA Hockey before completing your league registration.

Please ensure that the birth year selected during USA Hockey registration matches your player's date of birth to avoid delays in roster approval.

Note: This is not a Learn-to-Play program. Players should have basic skating and hockey experience before registering.



Players are required to have a Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears jersey.

If your player already has a Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears jersey, you do not need to purchase a new one.

If your player does not already have a jersey, you will be prompted during registration to purchase one.
